Meet Arief Abdurrakhman, a visionary in renewable energy technology, born in Surabaya in 1987. He’s a man on a mission, and his journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Arief earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. He pursued his master’s degree with joint research at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Germany with a DAAD scholarship.

Arief is now pursuing his doctoral studies at Gadjah Mada University and is currently active as a lecturer at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and a founder of a start-up business in the field of renewable energy technology called Bionersia.

There is a humanitarian vision that Arief and his team want to address, namely increasing literacy, awareness, and welfare of society through optimizing the use of renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, playing an active role in the carbon exchange, optimizing the Food-Water-Energy Nexus concept and handling organic waste. In the end, there will be an Indonesian nation that is sovereign in the fields of food and energy.

Bionersia is Arief’s breakthrough to achieve these visions. Bionersia has received several extraordinary achievements, such as obtaining a patent for purification equipment from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, becoming a funded startup in the technopreneur competition at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), become a selected startup in the government program through the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education for incubation and funding.
